I am a total loser - Part One
In this series of blog posts Yazdo will be your travel guide to Seoul since guide books are essentially useless there. He will also let you know why he is a total loser.

Pouria in Korea
So…I’m going to South Korea. We all knew this day would happen. All my life I’ve been using the “Hi, I’m Pouria. Like Korea but with a P.” It was only a matter of time before the Koreans tried to collect on royalties they’ve been owed. Here is the plan:
Pre-Thanksgiving Invite
So ummm…I don’t know if anyone else is feeling it yet but Thanksgiving is coming up soon. That means that pre-thanksgiving must be sooner. I am putting out the call right now for all my west coast homies, who’s interested in doing another pre-thanksgiving this year?
If you don’t know Thanksgiving is my most favorite holiday ever because it is a time when a feast is had. Why not enjoy this feast twice a year? Hell why not three?
Let’s do it up this year, who’s down?
Here’s some highlights from previous years:

Santa Cruz 2008

Prethanksgiving New York 2007

Dan and Ben enjoying LIFE
Man Crush - Thomas Jane
Comic Con 2009 - Anyone going?
Hello,
My name is Pouria and I am going to Comic Con this year. Who else is going? Would you like to split a room? Maybe become best buds? Let me know.
Silly House, tears are for kids
So it’s about 12:56AM on Saturday morning and I am lying in bed, listening to the clock tick, Kali’s breathing, and my typing. I just watched the last episode of season four of House and shed some tears, BIG DEAL. This fuckin’ show knows me to well, quotes like “nobody changes” or “everyone dies” are right up my alley.
The editors also know that I like Bon Iver and that it’s perfect to play whilst killing people off and making people come to terms with things. Anyways, I was embarrassed to shed some saline from eyes, but I couldn’t help it. As cheesy as it was, and as contrived as it was, and as poorly acted as it was, I still loved it. My heart strings were still tugged at and pulled on. I kept wiping the tears that were slowly being dripped from the corners of my eyes, hoping Kali wasn’t going to wake up and call me a sissy or something.
I thought I was going to be really sleepy after the show ended but I couldn’t sleep. That’s why I am writing this blog right now. I am hoping I get to go see Coraline 3D tomorrow, but we’ll see, hopefully I can make the early show. Also, I don’t know if I will go to Wondercon this year…is anyone out there thinkng about it?
Also why has only Trey joined Sonic Living? He hasn’t even really used it other than to appease me. I wish I was tired right now. Maybe blogs were made for moments like these. Where it’s completley irrational to be awake, you can’t sleep, have thoughts on the mind and are wondering when in hell you will fall asleep.
Drunken review about Headsets/Over the Top
You guys should be watching “Chuck”
Here’s why you should be watching the show “Chuck” on NBC:
• It stars a dude who is supposed to be awkward and lame who works in a crazy place that is very much like a best buy and staffs crazy characters and individuals that will make you laugh
• There is a nerdy loser sidekick who just wants to be his friend Chucks bestest friend, it leads to hilarious situations especially because Chuck has a hot-ass-sister, which leads me to my next point
• There is a multitude of fine women in this show, who are mostly spies and mostly get into chick fights. Although the chick fights are poorly choreographed and edited, it’s still cool to watch
• The chicks are hot
• The show is funny and is produced by a guy named “McG.” Although the guy is probably a douche, he got a psych degree like me
• Chuck and his cohorts are loveable and nerdy
• John Laraquette has an excellent performance in one episode
Although the naivety of Chuck can be overdone, it’s still a good show. Although the plot twists are incredibly predictable it’s good. It even employs all kinds of pseudo-science. You should watch it in this order, if you can catch it on NBC on Monday nights at 8 PM, support it that way. Some of the episodes are on Hulu, you can watch it there. I don’t know if it’s on DVD but watch it on that if you can. Or find a torrent.
I have used all the above mentioned options, except for the DVD. Obviously you should support the show, I don’t think it’s in danger of being cancelled because it runs an hour long now, but well you know, support it.
“Listen to the whole thing…”
I asked permission to use this, but it might be taken down once it is heard a few times. Some really intimate stuff, so listen and feel the love. It is mightily gay.
Alex left me a message last Saturday
Dave Matthews, Big Deal, I really enjoyed the concert
So fuck you guys. Let me start off by saying that. Now that we have that out of the way. I had two tickets to the DMB concert at the Greek Theater in Berkeley. The person who was going to go with me decided they couldn’t. So I had an extra ticket.
After some hemming and hawing I put it up on Craiglist. I picked not the first respondant, but just one I felt I liked best. We setup a time to meet. So I go to my friend Jon’s house, and we leave. I am observing Ramadan mind you and it’s fucking hot out here in Brentwood. Anyways, we get on BART and go. We take the realy long walk from BART to the theater because none of us know how to get there. We were shooting to be there by 5pm. We didn’t get there until 5:30PM.
The line is fucking huge….Oh wait, we walked by the Berkeley Tree Sitters, and some go with a piece of cardboard the size of an 8.5″x11″ paper, had Orinda Bowl written on it in Black Sharpie, was yelling at us because we like our plastic grocery stores whereas he lives in the Orinda woods.
Anyways, the line is fucking huge, and I was supposed to meet up with CL dude way earlier. So I call him, and it turns out he’s in the other line, I ask if we can crash the line where he is and he says sure. We find him, and it turns out this other guy we’re with, Ross, knows the guy who I’m selling my ticket to. Weird.
So we get awesome seats because CL guy held our spot in line from 2:30PM. Shit. So anyways, Sharon Jones was pretty good, but she couldn’t get the crowd really going, because they are mostly white. Nothing will take the soul out of a room more than a bunch of white people.
Sharon Jones was a really good showman and got people from the crowd up on the stage which was cool. She left, and I am really hungry at this point. Really thirsty, but it’s not sun down yet. DMB comes on at the moment it’s sun down, which is convenient for me because I get to eat while the show is going. It starts with some song, and they do others.
What struck me about this concert was how good it was. It wasn’t the best I’ve seen, but with a crowd of only 3,000 people, it was one of the best. The band was into the crowd. The crowd was singing all the songs, but not in an obnoxious way. At first I questioned the merits of going to a concert where all the crowd knows all the lyrics. But then I said to myself, fuck that, it’s cool.
On one of the songs, the crowd started the lyrics before Dave could, so Dave let the crowd finish up the song. Which was cool. DMB covered Money and Sledgehammer, and they held a moment of “we’re sad leroi died.” Tim Reynolds played his electric guitar with his teeth during the final song which was Watchtower, that was cool.
Am I gay for liking DMB? Possibly. But if liking DMB makes me gay I don’t want to be straight.
